Latest News.

This page is dedicated to late-breaking Association news, such as event cancellation or time change, outstanding member performances, etc.

In 2018, after 47 years of continuous operation, the OMCA was unable to muster sufficient enthusiasm to form a Management Committee. Consequently, the Association was in limbo for the entire year. Several members have indicated that the competition was missed and would like to see the reestablishment, in some form, of the Association. Primarily, an event-organizing committee is needed. This committee would establish a season-long event schedule in accordance with the existing “Event Rules” of the OMCA Handbook. To ensure that this schedule is tenable a dedicated event “Captain” will be responsible for the entire event. A normal schedule would consist of 12 events. The volunteer Captain would handle one or more events and should be committed to the event before the season commences.
One of the reasons for the demise of the Association’s event activities in 2018 was the lack of commitment of members to volunteer for the Captain position.
So, the purpose of this spiel is to solicit an enthusiastic person or persons to try and revitalize the OMCA to a position whereby an interesting, enjoyable and competitive event series can be promoted for the upcoming season.

A similar request for help was published back in November and garnered an enthusiastic response from Jim Cummings, quote: “I definitely would be available to continue in an executive role with the OMCA .. What I'm not interested in is the paperwork required by the OCA ( I have not the time nor the interest in this aspect of cycling )  There must be others who like this sort of thing and will volunteer to do it. So I’ll leave it there for now and hopefully members will step up and we can get something going for 2019"
